Number of airBaltic passengers grow 16% during four months to April

Latvian airline airBaltic carried overall 211,503 passengers in April 2010 (from Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn), representing 3% decrease comparing with the same month in 2009, when airBaltic transported 217,544 passengers.

During the first four months of 2010, airBaltic transported a total of 835,694 passengers, or 16% more than during the same period in 2009, when the total number of passengers was 717,705.

Tero Taskila, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: "airBaltic’s passenger growth in April was considerably affected by the volcanic ash cloud and airspace closures that disrupted air travel for more than a week."

The airline’s load factor, which represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of available seats, in April 2010 was at a level of 63%, or 2% points lower than in April 2009. During the first four months of 2010 airline’s load factor was at a level of 62%, the same as in the same period in 2009.

The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 91.5% in April 2010. This means that more than 91 of every 100 airBaltic flights in April departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
